Yesterday, I was looking for an outfit for church when I remembered a pair of green silk pants I bought last December that I have yet to wear. The green was beautiful, and the color suited me well. So imagine my disappointment when I put them on, and they no longer fit. They were too long and a little loose. Come on!!! December was four months ago!!! But in January, I decided to lose weight and did. So can I blame the pants for no longer fitting?
That little incident got me thinking about how some of us have already reached some of our goals, but because we get so caught up in our busy lives, we forget to acknowledge the progress we've made. This week, as we welcome May, it's a great time to reflect on our goals from January and see where we stand, so our next steps can be decisive.
Below are FOUR SIGNS that you're on the right track with YOUR GOALS:
1- TANGIBLE EVIDENCE OF PROGRESS- The pants were tangible proof that my goal to lose weight in January was reached. My question is: "What goals did you write down in January or February, and can you see tangible evidence that you have reached them?"
2- FEELING MORE CONFIDENT- Small, consistent steps produce results. And those results give us a boost of confidence in ourselves because we realize we can actually trust ourselves- we got this!!! So let me ask you this: "Lately, have you found yourself approaching life more confidently than you did in January, February, or March? :-)
3-POSITIVE FEEDBACK FROM OTHERS- It's one thing to know you have reached your goal and be proud of yourself; It's a different feeling when others notice your accomplishment and praise you for it. Have you received positive feedback from people who knew your goals?
4- A NEW ROUTINE- Anybody who has succeeded in reaching their goals did so by making and sticking to changes in their daily activities, aka routine. Do you find yourself having a new routine about certain aspects of your life related to your goals? It's a sign that you have reached your goal or are closer than before.
Some of you might be thinking: "Emma, that's all great, but I haven't experienced any of those clues you mentioned above. Don't worry. I got you!!! You need to go back to your original goals and develop a routine to help you reach them. Until next time,
Emma
Yes, life events can cause a stagnation in pursuing my goals. I'm reaching back and starting a new routine after my son graduates in two weeks; restructuring my whole life, daily routine, health priorities, relationships with family friends business partners etc. Thank you
