Why is Goliath still talking?

Beautiful People, know that there will always be people who will remind you that you don’t belong in the room, that profession, that new level, that platform, etc. Those people are YOUR GOLIATH!!! And the only way for their words and attitude to have no effect on you is for you to have solid confidence in yourself and in your capabilities.

This type of confidence can only be acquired by knowing WHO you are and WHAT you bring to the table of life. Dealing with a Goliath is not one of those instances where you can "fake it 'til you make it”. Because you can't knock down a Goliath while dealing with imposter syndrome, especially one that you created.

Too many times, we focus so much on what we lack, or what we think we need that we fail to sharpen our natural skills. David (the one in the Bible) was a shepherd- nothing extraordinary about his occupation. However, he knew WHO he was and was confident on WHAT he was good at. That’s why when he was presented with an opportunity to advance, Goliath’s mumbo jumbo didn’t faze him.

Here are three practices to overcome the Goliath in your life:

1- IGNORE DISTRACTIONS- When new opportunities to advance come your way, know that there will always be people or circumstances with the sole purpose of distracting you. Ignore them.

2- MEDITATE -Before and during a new journey, always take some time to remind yourself of everything you have overcome in the past and make an inventory of the skills and character traits you used to succeed.

3- BE YOU- Don’t try to be someone that you’re not. If you can’t conquer Goliath while having low self-esteem, you definitely can’t conquer him by pretending to be someone that you are not.

After reading this, is there anything you would like to add on ways to overcome Goliath? Or do you feel equipped now to deal with Goliath? Let me know in the comment section below.

Until next time,

Emma

You can’t knock down Goliath if you’re operating in fear either.

Oh definitely not!!! Fear is part of being human, but we shouldn’t entertained it, because Goliath will use it to make our life a living hell.

Definitely ! But David’s first and greatest weapon was that he went at Goliath in the Name of the Lord God Almighty.

💯 True!!! There are a lot of life lessons we can learn from David’s attitude. A lot of people know God but couldn’t do what David did because they have low self esteem or lack confidence in their skills. David conquered his Goliath because not only did he believe in his God, but he also believed in his skills because he has been using them to the point of mastery.

"Because you can't knock down a Goliath while dealing with imposter syndrome, especially one that you created."

That's exactly it.

Jerri, it took me a while to realize I was my worst critic. My mindset in regards to my abilities were the weapon formed against me- not other people’s opinions.
